Whats Happening at Bucek Chiropractic
December 2017
Holiday Message From Dr. Bucek
This time of year, I often reflect back on the previous year
and try to answer the following questions—“did I live this year in preparation
for the next year?”, “what am I going to do next year to make it better than
the last?”, and “am I doing all I can for my family?” I think these questions also help someone
reflect on their own health, too. Many people have New Years’ resolutions that
often reflect around some aspect of their health—losing weight being number
one!
Looking back, seeing where you were can often help you
adjust your perspective so that you can have a crisp vision of where you want
to go. What are your goals for this New Year? Take a second and think about
that. What vision do you have for yourself 12 months from now? Are you
healthier than 2016? Did you travel more? Are you in a better financial
situation? Did you take the time each day to make it better than the last? Just
some food for thought as we see 2017 come to a close.
I wish you all a very, Merry Christmas and a Happy and
Healthy New Year! Start 2018 with a bang and don’t look back! -Dr. Bucek
Don't Break You Back!!
Watch out, that terrible four-letter word is right around
the corner: SNOW! Follow these simple
tips to avoid hurting your back this snow season!
- Give yourself plenty of time to shovel so you don't rush yourself
- Wear loose layers so that you keep your muscles warm and flexible
- Warm up your shoulders, legs, arms, and back prior to heading out to shovel.
- PUSH the snow straight ahead to the edge of the walk way; don't throw it
- Bend your knees when you lift the shovel; your legs are more powerful than your low back. Let the legs and arms do the work, not the back.
- Take regular breaks to avoid over straining your muscles.
Take the proper precautions to avoid there common snow shoveling injuries, taken from the American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Insurance 101
As the 2018 approaches, it’s that time again when most
insurance plans roll-over and start over again on January 1st. There’s some
terms that you may find helpful when using your insurance at your doctors’
offices this year. Remember all amounts patients owe are contractually dictated
by the insurance plan selected.
“Premium” – The ongoing amount that must be paid for your
health insurance or plan. You and/or your employer usually pay it monthly,
quarterly or yearly. The premium may not be the only amount you pay for
insurance coverage. Typically, you will also have a co-payment or deductible
amount in addition to your premium.
“Annual Deductible”— the amount you are required to pay
annually before reimbursement by your health care benefits plan begins.
“Coinsurance” – a
percentage of a covered service that you are responsible for paying or the
percentage paid by your plan.
“CoPay”— a fixed dollar amount you are required to pay for
covered services at the time you receive care.
We hope this helps! We’ll be happy to verify your insurance
coverage for 2018; however, please note that we are unable to do so until
January 1st!
